Claude's /plushies Easter Egg: How the Free Clawd Plushie Drop Worked (Sold Out)

Claude’s /plushies Easter Egg: How the Free Clawd Plushie Drop Worked (Sold Out)

On October 1, 2026, the developer community found a hidden Easter egg on Anthropic’s developer site: an interactive terminal at claude.dev/terminal where typing /plushies or /stickers opened a registration form for free merch — a random “Clawd” plushie or a Claude Code sticker pack.

Both were claimed the same day. Visit now and the terminal just says: “All claimed for now. Thanks for the love.”

This was the fastest merch drop we’ve seen from Anthropic, and a small lesson in how these things move: the community found it, posted it, and drained it within hours. Here’s exactly how it worked — with screenshots — so you know what to do the next time one appears.

What claude.dev/terminal is

claude.dev is Anthropic’s developer-facing site: tips from the Claude team, blog posts, and video interviews about Claude Code. The /terminal page has an interactive terminal emulator built right into the page. It accepts slash commands — and on October 1, two of them did something unexpected:

  • /plushies — register for a free random Clawd plushie (Claude’s orange octopus-like mascot). Five designs: scientist goggles + lab coat, brown fedora, blue wizard hat + star wand, black pixel sunglasses, and plain.
  • /stickers — register for a free Claude Code sticker pack. Nine pixel-art designs of the same mascot.

The terms shown on the page: free, no purchase needed, 18+, one per person, while supplies last. Fulfillment was handled by a third-party service (Brilliant).

Step by step: how the claim worked

Step 1. Go to claude.dev/terminal. The page loads with the terminal front and center.

Step 2. Type /plushies (or /stickers) into the terminal and press Enter.

Step 3. The terminal printed the offer — “Clawd plushie” — with a link to the registration form, while supplies lasted.

Step 4. Click the link, fill in the shipping form (name, email, mailing address), and submit. The confirmation page read: “Thanks! We’ve got your response. Check your email for updates on your order.”

What it looks like now

Both commands now return the same line:

Clawd plushie — All claimed for now. Thanks for the love.

Claude Code sticker pack — All claimed for now. Thanks for the love.

No registration link is shown anymore. We verified this ourselves on October 1 at 5:41 PM Pacific.

Both /plushies and /stickers now show the sold-out message

The honest part: what this teaches

  1. Speed is the whole game. The drop surfaced in the morning (Pacific) and was gone by evening. The signal came from developer posts on X and Threads — not from Anthropic’s main channels.
  2. A secondary market appeared instantly. Within hours, people were offering to buy plushies from anyone who got one. That’s scarcity doing its thing — worth noticing, not something we’d build an income play on.
  3. “For now” is doing a lot of work. The terminal says all claimed for now. Anthropic has run sticker drops before, so a restock isn’t out of the question.
